on a roll

I've been busy making and remaking.
I'm bringing out all the vintage and antique items I've been collecting for my "vintage rehab pieces".

These pieces come from all over. From the antique market in Buenos Aires, to little Reading, Vermont... to my local flea market on capitol hill- Eastern Market.

Also introducing these fun new "swing earring" designs which are available in sterling silver or 14k goldfill.

Lastly, something i've been wanting to do for a while and I finally stopped procrastinating and made them:
NINJA STARS!

I don't know why but i really love the idea of carrying around a ninja star around your neck. Always ready for action!

My Dog Blogs

.....and twitters.

Yes we are those crazy "dog parents". I never understood it before, but our dog, El Guapo, is just the coolest. He talks, he dances, and is just the best all around cuddler.

He's got a great sense of humor (via my husband) and does posts and commentary on things we see on Etsy, places we go visit, as well as just showing off his cute mug.

As for me it's easy to see how he has become my muse for so many of my designs. (See below)

Anyways, if you're needing some random entertainment check out his blog which he does through Tumbler.com (cool fun little blog application) and his twitters.

DIY Framed Chalk Board

This was a fun little project we finally completed. (We had it in the works for a couple of months)

Materials:
+ Frame- $4 from goodwill- repainted in black glossy paint.
+ Chalkboard paint
+ Magnetic paint
+ Plywood cut to size

First we bought some 1/4 inch plywood that was cut to the same size as the mirror.
We had to put 2-3 coats of the magnetic paint first- it's not super strong but it works.
After that dried we did 2 coats of the chalkboard paint.

...and VOILA!

PIle of Craft

My Goodies from Pile of Craft in Baltimore.... Had to share:

Bath Goodies- Biggs & Featherbelle - their body bar is awesome. It's like a big bar of lotion and it smells so good.
Cuff and Buckle- Fist Cuff's Leather
Gnome print- Illegible Ink
Funky spikey necklace- Yummy & Company

Lastly, I wanted to show off what I scored at this auction house in the Hampden area of Baltimore.

A small robins egg blue pyrex and a fun vintage necklace.
Perfect for my fourth of july celebrations ;) and only $5 ea.
I can't wait to go back!

Narwhals are the coolest

I've been fascinated with Narwhals for years now ever since i saw a national geographic special on them. I couldn't believe such a creature existed. These "sea unicorns" are so bizarre and beautiful I had to create one of my own.

Check out the special:

More About Narwhals-
via wikipedia
"Narwhals are a medium-sized toothed whale that lives year-round in the Arctic. the narwhal males are distinguished by a characteristic long, straight, helical tusk extending from their upper left jaw.

Narwhal have been harvested for thousands of years by Inuit people in Northern Canada and Greenland for meat and ivory and a regulated subsistence hunt continues to this day. While populations appear stable, the narwhal has been deemed particularly vulnerable to climate change due to a narrow geographical range and specialized diet."

I also went ahead and searched etsy just out of curiousity to see how many other artists out there faved these whimsical creatures... and to my surprise there were tons! (see below)

delayed...

Sorry that I've been a little behind on my posts. I just finished a website for a young adults author, Carolyn MacCullough. She just published her latest book "Once A Witch" and I had the pleasure of designing and creating the website for this fun book.

I had fun working on this... and there will probably be upcoming improvements but over all I think it turned out well.

So lately, I've been working on "revamping" my website and creating little lookbooks. It's a slow and tedius process of "tightening up" design elements and organizing accordingly but I hope that I'll be able to have it fully completed before the end of summer. Please check it out and submit your feedback or any ideas you may have. I'd love to hear what you have to say. ;)
I have a lot to post about and hope to be more consistent about it in the upcoming weeks.
Some belated posts include some of the fun stuff I've been doing including a DIY, shopping at Pile of Craft in Baltimore, and how my dog blogs. ;)

So stay Tuned!

In the mean time check out some pics of my little look books which is organized by bLuGrn's central themes: earth, water and sky. I plan on handing out to little boutiques about town. Wish me luck. ;)
