Customer Inspired

The August shows are over and ready to start over for September. Thanks to everyone that made it out to Arts on N and to the Ballston Arts Market!

Just wanted to do a quick post about how so many of my customers inspire new designs. I get a lot of custom orders and ideas from customers such as the Little Prince's "tamed fox", and earrings with the Cheshire cat.

Other times just a simple suggestion for new products -like cufflinks with dogs- will inspire me...Hence the new "Mooshface" pendant and ring... soon to be cufflinks too! ;)

So to all my customers : THANK YOU!!! Keep all the great ideas and custom orders coming!

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

I'm super excited about Tim Burton's upcoming movie "Alice in Wonderland". It looks fantastical and I can't imagine who better to play the mad hatter than Johnny Depp.

Inspired by its magic, I've been planning my own trip down the rabbit hole with a set of new designs inspired by Lewis Carroll's Classic.

I've hand cut various silhouettes depicting some famous favorite characters such as the White Rabbit, the Caterpillar, the Cheshire cat and of course Alice.

I'm still working on the Mad Hatter ;) Maybe I'll be inspired after the movie.

In the mean time check out a couple of my
new silhouette necklaces and an old favorite:

on a roll

I've been busy making and remaking.
I'm bringing out all the vintage and antique items I've been collecting for my "vintage rehab pieces".

These pieces come from all over. From the antique market in Buenos Aires, to little Reading, Vermont... to my local flea market on capitol hill- Eastern Market.

Also introducing these fun new "swing earring" designs which are available in sterling silver or 14k goldfill.

Lastly, something i've been wanting to do for a while and I finally stopped procrastinating and made them:
NINJA STARS!

I don't know why but i really love the idea of carrying around a ninja star around your neck. Always ready for action!

DIY

Design Sponge had this great DIY wednesdays... last wednesday ( or maybe it was 2 weeks ag0) they had this DIY trivet from a knot... which i thought was so cool.

I started playing around with different materials I had laying around such as leather cord and silk cord.
I made them much smaller than a trivet... more like notions... so I was left trying figuring out what to do with my new little creations....
Of course I made some jewelry from the little leather knots but i also made a cute hair clip with the small silk orange knot which I'm wearing right now.
YAY!

I'm still brainstorming on the other silk knots.
I think they would look great on a blouse or dress.. a purse perhaps... or what about a closure for a wedding invitation? We'll see...

Try out the DIY trivet from a knot... yourself and see what you come up with. It's fun!
